Bolder Way Forward

What is A Bolder Way Forward?

The primary aim of A Bolder Way Forward is to help more Utah girls, women, and families thrive. Utah women and girls thrive when all aspects of their safety, security, health, and wellbeing are met, allowing them to explore and pursue educational, professional, civic, leadership, and other opportunities according to their interests, and to feel abundant levels of support and a sense of belonging as they do so.

Fight Against Domestic Violence operates as a spoke leader for domestic violence in this statewide movement. For ways to get involved, visit the site here.

Bolder Way Forward Resources

  • Each year thousands of Utah women and girls are victims of domestic violence. This is why A Bolder Way Forward’s Domestic Violence Spoke is focused on significantly decreasing the occurrence of domestic violence and substantially increasing resources and support for survivors in Utah. Learn more about this issue and how you can be part of ending domestic violence in your community.

  • A Bolder Way Forward for Utah and Living Room Conversations (LRC) are partnering to offer a simple, sociable, and structured way to practice communicating across differences while building understanding and relationships. This is one of a series that are available at the local and state levels in a variety of settings (e.g., workplaces, universities, schools, communities, faith-based organizations, and homes). Typically, 4-6 people meet in person or by video call for about 60 minutes to listen to and be heard by others on one of our nearly 160+ topics. Rather than debating or convincing others, we take turns talking to share, learn, and be curious. No preparation is required, though background links are available on some topic pages online. Anyone can host using these italicized instructions. Hosts also participate. Learn More

  • During the fall of 2023, Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) researchers conducted a statewide study to establish a baseline for public perceptions related to the awareness, understanding, and attitudes about challenges that Utah women and girls face (see Background & Methods for details). The study was created to support the work of 18 areas of focus (spokes) within the movement called A Bolder Way Forward, which is dedicated to helping more Utah girls and women thrive. One of the 18 areas of focus is domestic violence, and this summary shares findings that illuminate present perspectives and establishes a baseline to track progress in a few key areas. Learn More
